Today at the Netanya Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel, I spoke about my book titled “Women and Jihad: Debating Palestinian Female Suicide Bombings in the American, Israeli and Arab Media.”  The book speaks about the motivations for Palestinian female terrorism from the Second Intifada to the present and how the media covers these women in a way that encourages the phenomenon.  The bottom line of my lecture was that incitement plays a major role in causing these women to blow themselves as demonstrated in the media, the UNRWA and PA schools and from statements issued by Fatah, Hamas, the Islamic Movement, etc.  At the same time, these women are not considered normative within Palestinian society for in Muslim culture, these women are supposed to be wives and mothers, not fighters.  To watch the lecture, please watch below!
