She Heard Arabic and Knew Something Was Wrong

This past Friday night, Michal Salomon heard Arabic and through an opening into the kitchen of  her husband’s parents’ home, she saw an Arab and knew something was wrong. She saw the terrorist, but he didn’t see her. She quickly grabbed her three older children and rushed them upstairs where her young twins were sleeping, and there she held the door closed, terrified that the terrorist would come and try to hurt her children. She could hear the screams. She called the police and held the door as she listened and heard her husband die. Heard the gunshot that neutralized the terrorist, too late to save her husband, her sister-in-law, and her father-in-law. It seemed like forever before the screams stopped; before it was clear and the newly widowed and suddenly a grieving single mother of 5 orphaned children could go downstairs to the devastation that awaited her and the end of the life she had known. She heard Arabic, and immediately knew something was wrong…within minutes, she would know how right she was and how wrong the situation had become.

When will there be peace? I have an answer today. It is when statements like hers will never have to be said…when hearing Arabic in your home is a sign that honored and invited guests have arrived, not terrorists hoping to murder and destroy all you have built.

When will there be peace? I have an answer today. It is when our enemies understand that we are here to stay and if ANYONE is to leave this land, it will NOT, Oh My God, it will NOT be the Jewish people.

And finally, when will there be peace? This too, I know today. It will only be when the left wing understands what the right wing understood long ago…our enemies will cease being our enemies only when they understand that we are strong and united, that we are, in fact, strong enough to make peace because you don’t make peace with the weak…you defeat them, you crush them, you conquer them.

Only the strong make peace…and we will be strong. The message we must deliver is a hard one. We have always been and will always be ready to meet you at the peace table but so long as you call for bloodshed…it will be YOUR blood that is shed. So long as you call for war…we will out-arm, out-fight your pathetic soldiers. We are Israel. We are eternal. We are strong.

Fire your rockets and we will create defense systems that will shoot them out of the sky.
A few hours ago, it was reported that Benjamin Netanyahu had buckled, as we feared he would, and a great outcry arose. I don’t know if he heard our anger or listened to his own. Whatever the reason, sanity seems to be holding. The metal detectors will stay; security cameras are being installed. The Arabs say this is demeaning. That we can detect when they have weapons is demeaning? We can live with that. Really, I mean that quite literally. We CAN live with that. There are metal detectors all over the world, a nod to the world terrorists have created.
Some have objected to the tone of the rhetoric of some of the posters on my Facebook feed and as I listened it came to me that it is not the rhetoric that is causing the violence, but the violence that is causing the rhetoric. If the Muslims stop the violence, the harsh rhetoric that the left loves to criticize will stop. If the rhetoric stops, we all know the violence will continue. This is not the chicken and the egg, a philosophical debate of which came first. Was there an egg that hatched a chicken which then laid eggs or was there a chicken which laid eggs which hatched chickens? Who can know and right now, who cares?
This is not the chicken and the egg. Violence begat rhetoric and if the rhetoric is deemed too harsh, there is no question the violence has always been worse.
Almost by the minute, rumors are flying. Currently, it seems that Bibi is standing firm and has stated that the metal detectors will remain. Only strength and unity will bring us real peace.
